Scripting101Class


A one-day tutorial designed by BrianMarick and BretPettichord. It teaches people how to use the WTR toolkit to test a web application.

All of the code and class materials are publicly available. Currently these materials can be found at the following locations. These are the materials that were used in the October 2003 classes.


People are welcome to teach their own classes based on this material.

Software Used in the Class

  • Ruby installer for Windows (from the Pragmatic Programmers)
  • WTR
  • Timeclock, an application for time tracking by BrianMarick
  • Distributed Ruby (drb) -- used internally by Timeclock. Also used by the test scripts to access testing hooks.
  • An unnamed library of Ruby code that provides convenience methods. Ideally this should all be included in WTR.
  • Sample solutions to class exercises.
